One of the big attractions are the Fiesa lakes, where a colourful spectrum of different creatures live around. In fact, you can easily find a multitude of large spiny spider crabs, dragonflies and variety of other different water organisms.
The Fiesa lakes are actually holes dug by by the brickwork workers since they needed clay that the Fiesa bay was full off. There are two lakes to be exact, the smaller one contains fresh water and has a depth of about 6,5 m, while the larger one, is deeper and contains some salt water, since it’s linked to the sea. The noteworthy and beautiful aspect of the lakes is the plant life that surrounds it. In fact, they are overgrown with riparian plants and other saltwater vegetation. Because of this, the place is also a home of a multitude of different animals, as mentioned above.
The Fiesa lakes, also provide great ecologic value, so they have been added to the list of the most important natural heritages of Slovenia and were even proclaimed as a natural monument in circa 1989.
